Pokagon

This past weekend the entire Hone Family headed up north to Lake James in honor of my Grandmother's 80th Birthday. We had a great celebration together filled with boating, beach time, golfing, dinner at Mulligan's, cocktails on the deck and roasting smores over the bonfire (for those that stayed up late night - no, that did not include me:). All in all it was a fantastic weekend, love you Grandma!

On Saturday morning after we all said our goodbye's to one another, Greg & I along with my parents traveled over to our good friends the DeWitt's lake house on lake Tippecanoe. We had a nice, relaxing time together and were able to celebrate Darby's birthday Saturday night. Luckily the boys got in more rounds of golf which made Greg very happy:)

Good News ~
On Monday morning I completed my three hour glucose tolerance test and luckily I passed! No more worries about gestational diabetes - phew!!! Thank you to Jackie and Will for keeping me entertained during my morning of blood draws. My good friend Jackie ended up delivering Will at 33 weeks. Due to complications of pre-eclampsia which developed into HELLP syndrome, Will managed to make his way into the world on Father's Day. It has been a very worrisome month, with constant prayers going out to Jackie and Will. Luckily, Jackie is feeling much better these days and Will is doing amazingly well. He is getting bigger and stronger every day - hopefully will be coming home from the NICU soon. I loved being able to spend some time with this cute one and have an included a picture below. Love you bunches Will bear and Jaxs!!!

Baby Shower July 10, 2010

What a great, fun weekend filled with family, friends, babies, pool time, good food and great company! Saturday my family (Mom, Elizabeth, Grandma, Aunt Barb and Aunt Janet) hosted a beautiful baby shower in honor of Anna and myself. The hostesses truly outdid themselves - thank you, thank you! I feel so fortunate to have such amazing friends and family. After the shower, the day transitioned into a pool party/cookout in which we celebrated my cousins Joy and Rick's going away who are moving to Germany for 3 years - they will definitely be missed. Thank you for everyone who made the trip and of course to all of those that joined us for the shower. It was a wonderful weekend!

30 Weeks

I have been so fortunate with this pregnancy so far, feeling great that it is frustrating to have a hiccup in my third trimester. This past week I've had a few incidences of feeling faint-like symptoms (sweaty, nauseas, dizzy, shaky) that it has really thrown me for a loop. Luckily, I got in to see the MD today who reassured me that these symptoms are a combination of a drop in blood sugar, being anemic and of course, the baby is taking up a lot of my energy since she is growing. So hopefully with taking more breaks throughout my day, eating small frequent meals and taking iron supplements I will hopefully wain off these bad feelings. To top it off, I also learned that I failed my glucose test:( My numbers were borderline but this means that I need to take a much longer, 3 hour fasting glucose test. My MD did reassure me that there are quite a few false positives and she didn't think I had gestational diabetes - it is just my body is not used to processing so much sugar. So she sent me home with homework to 'train' my body by consuming candy bars or jelly beans the next few days before coming back for my longer test - I don't think this will be a problem:) On a good note, I ended the appointment with hearing Anna's sweet heartbeat in the 140's and she is measuring right on track at 30 weeks:)

Thanks to my Aunt Julie for taking a candid shot, here is my 30 week baby bump

28 Week Appointment

This morning I had my 28 week appointment - it was quite a busy one! I started off the morning drinking my glucose drink, to check to see if I have gestational diabetes. I will find out my lab results within the next few days. Then we were off for the ultrasound, I was so excited to see my little girl again! Greg unfortunately had to work but I was so happy to have my Mom join me so she could see her Granddaughter. Anna is measuring right on time, 2 lbs 15 oz - can you belive she is almost 3 lbs!!! She is considered to be in the 56th percentile, I was shocked, I thought she would be much smaller. I guess I need to accept that I am not a week or two behind. Luckily she was very cooperative this morning and we were able to have some pictures in 4D. I have to say the pictures are a bit scary looking in 4D (I know, as a mom-to-be I shouldn't say such a thing!) but it is amazing what technology can do these days. Anna is currently positioned head down and the MD told me not to worry, there is plenty of amniotic fluid. Again, it was an amazing experience to see her and all is well - which is just very reassuring. I ended the appointment with my RhoGam shot since I am RH negative blood type, ouch!

Everything seems to be coming together. The nursery furniture was delivered today and sitting in the front room awaiting for Greg to assemble. Hopefully I'll have updated nursery pics to post soon!

What is with the month of June!

Just wanted to give an update on more baby news! All four of my friends that were pregnant with me have ALL delivered their babies this past month - what is with the month of June? Luckily everyone is healthy and Mom & babies are doing great. Zach & Liz Held welcomed their daughter Natalie on Friday, June 25th weighing 5 lbs 12 oz. So excited to add another girl to the mix since everyone else we know is having boys. Greg & I were fortunate enough to meet her last Sunday - she is gorgeous! We had more exciting news this past Tuesday, June 29th to hear our good friends Molly & Seth Corcoran welcomed their son Cash Thomas Corcoran, weighing 7 lbs 3oz 20inches long. We're so excited for the Corcoran family and can't wait to meet their little guy. With all these babies coming early, I definitely had a long talk with Anna to make sure she stays put for the next three months!
